iBook keyboard sensor problems

I'm having problems with the sensor for the keyboard which disables the mouse when you're typing. The mouse is constantly being activated, selecting text and other things it shouldn't be doing when I'm typing. This feature works perfectly on my MBP. Is there anything I can do before I just replace the sensors? Thanks.
