I watched it. It's posted on the Apple site now.

Is it just me, or did the whole event have a REALLY low energy feel to it???

The whole presentation was very ho hum.

Not your typical Steve Jobs razzle dazzle.

And the AUDIENCE.....MY GOD....could they have been any more catatonic?

I mean the new imac was unveiled...and you could have heard a pin drop.

No one cheered. No one yelled. Not a peep!

And the applause, if you could call it that was so scattered and unenthusiastic I thought Steve Jobs was giving the keynote in a nursing home.

Although not a complete redesign...the imac ROCKED.

Steve should rethink about posting videos that he doesn't host at large events full of the mac faithful.

There was no magic. No buzz.

It was like a friggin Microsoft keynote!

Anyway....I'm just venting.

Still love the new look of the imac. Just was shocked at the lame venue.

Cheers!

Yeah I watched about halfway into it. Very low energy feel... Not what we're used to I guess half of the audience was too busy liveblogging it to breathe. (No disrespect, I had my fair share of refreshes on Engadget)

I was thinking that once the commercial they showed finished the audience clapped was a good thing... But other than that, no one really freaked out. I think the iMac looks great and would love to have one, and iLife 08 will be a pleasure to own in a few days. I thought they were great updates.

I watched it also, and I had the same feeling as you did, and it reminded me of the last time an event was held in the Apple Town Hall (iPod Hi-Fi and Mac mini). Steve must have felt the same as we did; he said something like "isn't that great?" and got no response from the audience... he told them they might want to respond to that

You guys need to remember that this event was attended by the MEDIA, not us over enthusiastic mac users. Big difference.

Yeah but that was my reaction too, I was anticipating a nice new design and then that ugly thing comes on screen and I was literally in disbelief, I even posted that on this forum minutes after I saw the image. To me it was like the Homer Mobile from the Simpsons.

I do think the iMac looks better in real life but all the graphics of them look terrible. Even on the Apple store, it looks the worst out of the whole lineup. The first image they showed should have been a photograph showing it from the front-left or even the video with the fly-around.

    I hear what you're saying.

I dig it tho. And will probably dig it even more when i see it in person.

I wasn't expecting a COMPLETE redesign. I think the imac will from this point forward be based on the floating screen concept.

    To me its "different" enuff.

I like how the glossy glass screen now extends to almost the very edge with the black border. Kinda resembles the iphone in that regard. I'm sure it's gonna look killer in person.

Its hard to get a feel for the aluminum and the black back thru the pics.

Again...I dig it. Thinner. More elegant and classy looking.

I don't think I'd update my current 20" g5 imac on looks alone....but I will update based on the guts of the machine in the fall when Leopard comes out. I want a more current up to date machine for my art projects.

Must be the setting... When Jobs introduced the iPod it was the same setting and pretty much the same mood with the media there...

I agree... the media sucks. We should get rid of all of them. I personally loved the keynote, the new iMacs, iLife, and iWork (so basically everything). The thing that I thought was the most sad was that the most applause came after the commercial. And while I'm on the subject of the commercial, I didn't like it that much, but I did laugh when the screen glared so much in it, potentially dissuading people who were already a bit edgy after the 'glossy only' announcement.

Listen the new iMac rocks, who really gives a shit about how it was presented at the end of the day. I'm getting one so they did something right.
