Application folder deleted

So I was re-arranging my folders and stuff, and on the way my Applications folder got deleted. I still have all my apps, but now if I hit Shift-Apple-A, nothing happens. I made a new folder and called it 'Applications' and put it in the place where the old one was, but it's not the one with the little emblem on the folder icon, and I can't use the shortcut to get to it. How do I get it back? Or at least get it so the shortcut will open my new folder.

Edit: Fixed it by relaunching finder. Reset icon and allows me to use the shortcut. YAY!

(Phrased such that any politician would be proud. In other words, "mistakes were made". )
