My Powermac G4 is not long for this world, I fear

I have a 466MHz Powermac G4 Digital Audio, and yesterday it just stopped working. (Thank God I have an 867 to type this on!) When I press the power button, the fans will start to whirr, and then it will shut off after about a second and a half. This strted after I put a gig of RAM in it to test a hardrive with.

Is there anything I can do to salvage it?

Take the Ram back out, it may be badly seated or just a bad chip. The symptoms you describe are what a computer does if it can't load the Ram.

Hmmm.... I tried it. It still wouldn't work. The mobo is dead, then?

Try the PMU reset procedure outlined on this site and check the small battery with a meter:
