Switch help

I am helping my dad switch to a iMac soon, but before he does he wants to know if there are any good DVR programs for OSX. He just bought a DVR for his TV, he wants to be able to use that for his computer too. So any sugjustions?

    What kind of DVR did he buy? If it's a TiVo desktop has a Mac version out.
