Please excuse me if this topic has come up already: I tried to search for the answer but didn't find anything.

I am about to get my hands on a Cube from my father who is moving on to a new iMac and I thought that it make a terrific media server when paired with an external HDD and audio processor (I'm thinking something like the M-audio transit). My question is this: is there any way for me to load Front Row onto a cube (running Tiger)? I have FR on my MacBook, FWIW.

You can use Front Row Enabler to put it on Macs without an IR receiver.

I've used that (on a Powerbook) and it worked great .... but every OSX update seems to ruin it. Make sure your OS is as up-to-date as you want it BEFORE installing the FrontRow hack. I like to keep my OS updated, so I quit re-installing FrontRow about a year ago... but I'd assume that the current version works just as flawlessly as the ones I used.

It's updated fairly regularly. The current version works with 10.4.10.

Excellent, guys, thank you. Anyone know if Front Row will run on a Cube?

While it MIGHT load/boot/run on a Cube... if memory serves that's a G4 at 450 MHz or so... performance is going to be so poor you're not gonna like it

The swanky transitions and such probably won't be smooth... and if that's the case, what's the point of it??
