Open Word doc in Pages? This Mac is gonna kill me.

Oh it is easy, they said. Word docs open right up in Pages. But all I get is a message that it can't be done. Excel into Numbers works beautifully. Remember the PC guy the other night with his new Mac who thought he was going to die? Well my Mac came today and I know exactly how he feels. The number One assurance I required and received was that I could import World Docs into Pages. If that is possible, will someone puleeze tell me how to do it????

    I would doubt that Pages will have 100% Word compatibility. If you have trouble opening a file, try NeoOffice ( http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php ), convert the file to a format that Pages definitely does support.

    *Which* Word format is it in? There are about 12 distinct formats created over the years, all called .doc, but internally very different.
