"Insufficient permissions to access the file"

Hi

Recently I backed up my machine to an external HD using Superduper. Then, when trouble appeared, I restored the backup to my internal HD again. Since then I have had problems with permissions, it seems. I have been solving the problem on a file or folder basis by opening Get Info and changing privileges. Now, this has been good enough - until today when I encountered the following error, trying to open a virtual machine i VMware Fusion:

"Insufficient permissions to access the file"

This time my little tricks doesn't work. What can I do - is there any way to solve the problem on a more permanent basis, except reinstalling Tiger?

Have you tried the Repair Permissions button in Disk Utility?

Check where the drive image is in the VMWare settings and then manually correct the permissions on the disk image and the folder containing it.
