Powerbook = remote control

I know this is far fetched, but does anyone know of any software that can turn my TiBook into a remote control for the television or other devices. I have an app like this on my Palm but there are always times I am sitting watching TV with my TiBook in my lap and can never find the remote. The software probably doesn't exist, but it would be cool if there was something out there.

That used Bluetooth. That'll be a while but cool since I have a 12" PB.

Heck, PowerBooks don't even have Infared any more. The Newton, on the other hand, can do this without skiping a beat.

IR however requires line of site. Bluetooth doesn't, right, using radio waves?

Yes, but how many TVs do you know that have Bluetooth?

this one's new, check it out:

It works with a sony-ericsson mobile-phone. you can remote presentations or iTunes with it. I didn't try it because I've none of these two.

hope it works well for you.

    From the read me-file:

Here are some ideas on how to use Clicker:

    - Control PowerPoint or Keynote when giving presentations.

    - Control DVD Player or iTunes from your sofa or bed.

    - Use AppleScript to control anything you like!

Further, Sony Ericsson Clicker has a built in "proximity sensor", allowing you to trigger actions when you leave or come back to your Mac. Again, here are some ideas:

    - Pause iTunes when you leave the room, turn it on when you come back.

    - Use AppleScript to let your presence (or absence) control anything you like!

This preview release probably has some minor issues. Therefore it will cease to work on March 1st 2003. Make sure you get a new copy at &lt;www.salling.com&gt;!

    System Requirements

    - Mac OS X 10.2.4 or greater

    - Supported phones: T39m, R520m, T68 or T68i

    - Supported connections: bluetooth

Yeah, I began a thread relating to the software. I have bluetooth and a T68i, but I also have a Rev B. Powerbook with Infrared. So referring back to my question, does anyone know of software that allows the infrared port on my PB to act as a remote control. I already have a remote for my TiBook (my T68i )

maybe you can find some software that works with the Game Cubes wireless controller...then you can control Samus and check your email at the same time <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

TVs and everything else including the toilet will have BT in a few years hopefully. Imagine flushing your toilet with your PB?
