Now more than ever we NEED an SDK...

Sure an iPhone SDK could be dismissed with a 'we need to protect AT&Ts network' excuse... Now that the iPod Touch is out the playing field has changed and people should once again rally behind the idea that Apple should release an SDK!

Think of the possibilities...

I for one could EASILY see the iPod Touch double duty as things like:

Whole House Audio - wireless remote control

Home Automation - same deal

E-Mail from any room in the house

iChat

etc etc etc...

This HAS TO HAPPEN!! please...

I was talking about the same thing in one of the leadup iPod announcement threads. We now have a form factor and an underlying OS with wifi capability that can handle all sorts of media and content. These are gonna sell like hotcakes.

It's time to give developers options to expolit the growing platform.

    For starters:

Netvibes Widget API - can you say widgets for dashboard, iPods and websites?

A List Apart: Put Your Content in My Pocket - continue building websites with the advancing mobile internet in mind.

I'm getting a 16gb iPod Touch when they release, primarily for the potenital development capabilities.
