okay so here's an update. i went to see how much i'd be spending by buying a macbook pro with the educational discount and when it brought me to the ipod page for a selection, there was no ipod touch. mabye that part of the site isn't updated yet seeing as they still have the old nano's and video ipods. we'll see shortly i guess.
hmm i'm wondering the same thing. i'm in the same boat as you Rich, i'm looking at getting the macbook pro with the educational discount. i wonder though if its better to just wait for the new OS then buy one.

could i get the iphone touch with the student discount paying the difference between the iphone touch and the nano?
