How Long will 5th Gen Supplies Last?

My 5th Gen 30gb iPod is on it's way out as confirmed by my local Apple store the other day. The drive is failing. They said that they could replace it. How long will current supplies last, on this model, before I should go in and ask for a replacement? My hopes are that they replace it with a new "Classic".



Any clues?
