How to Remove Duplicates?

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
using the "show duplicates" function in itunes, ive noticed that i have 2000+ duplicates. is the only way to remove them by doing it manually? is there a program (hopefully free) out there that does the whole removing process automatically? thanks in advance

    I'm not sure about removing them a proper way but if they were all duplicated at the same time you can find the top bar with all the columns (i.e. Name, Time, Artist, etc.) and Right Click>Date Added (check it) and then click on Date Added on the top bar and find the duplicates. If they all show up in a row you can click the first one and scroll down to the last and shift click, it will highlight all, from there you can delete them.
