OSX Powerpoint viewer?

I've been sent an attachment in .pps format -- this is powerpoint, right? For the life of me I can't find any up to date powerpoint viewers: Microsoft doesn't list any. There's a couple of old PP viewers about the place, bu they don't seem to be up to scratch.

Naturally, I'm not planning to get Keynote or Powerpoint just for a silly little attachment. Surely there's something else that will do the job!

I've been down this track in the past: the only real solution I've found is squirting the offenders to a convenient Windoze box... <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

there is a viewer around. but I'm not sure if he only reads word files...or if he also reads presentations...

    More details please!

BTW, the best solution that I can think of right now would be to install OpenOffice. Having used it on linux, I know that it can read powerpoint files. But I was really hoping for a much easier solution than this. The thought of the download plus installing X11 gives me the willies.

I wonder what the chances are of having the PP importer chunklet taken out of Keynote as its own little tool? Since the Keynote XML file format is published...

Wouldn't *that* just be a nice little turn of the screw to MS?

Ahem. Isn't this what you need? It runs in Classic, but that's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick:
