Quick Look File Formats

For those of you who have used it, and can talk about it, does Quick Look allow you to view the contents of older files or non-Universal application files? For example, I have an older version of Word that my wife uses for work (she's an English teacher) and she always has a hard time finding files. I think Quick Look will be great for her but I wasn't sure if it would allow you to read Word files. I'm pretty sure we have Office X. Anybody know the answer to this? Thanks.

Older Word files ... hard to say, but both Tiger and Leopard use the TextEdit code to both load and save Word files, and Leopard uses the same technique to do the Quick Look on Word files. I'm just not sure how far back it goes. Maybe the Help file for TextEdit would say something about it.

What if Microsoft releases a plugin for Quick Look that covers older versions of Word?

For what it's worth, I've been able to open .doc files with TextEdit which were created in Word 5.1. Is that old enough?

I guess so. I'll just have to wait and see for sure. Thanks for the replies.
