my friends macbook keeps giving him the beachball. The memory is not being overclogged, and all the stats seem to be normal according to the Widget. Hes had the computer for 2 months and this started a week ago and has been getting worse and worse. It is to the point that it freezes after almost any command is given.

He had extra memory added by a third party, but his computer has been working fine for 2 months with the extra memory.

please help

thanks,

Cato

Take out the new RAM and see if it still does it.

Problem is very likely the 3rd party mismatched RAM. Sometimes, yes, it starts out okay, but a few months down the line it gets worse, for some reason.

Take out all 3rd party RAM/ upgraded RAM etc and put back the original Apple RAM. Things should work okay... Check with the Apple reseller, this is not normal for the MacBook.
