New Software VP

SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones)--In a blow to Palm Inc.'s (PALM) software

division, its chief product officer, Steve Sakoman, has left.

Sakoman left PalmSource, the Sunnyvale, Calif., software division of Palm,

early last month, according to people familiar with the situation. He has

since returned to one of his former employers, Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL).

Sakoman, reached at his new office, declined to comment.

Apple confirmed Sakoman has joined the Cupertino, Calif., company with the

title vice president of software technology.

    and what I was going to add is that this old Newton/Be veteran and an interesting addition...They are really pumping up the talent level lately; and with most of these guys its the project not the money

    I wonder if that's just recently shanged. I thought Avie was Sr. V.P. of Software (in general).
