The following show used to air on my local PBS station but is no longer.

I just love this show... it is one of the funniest shows ever in my book:

"The Red Green Show"

There are some clips out there:

    I'm a man...

    but I can change...

    if I have to...

    (I guess)...

lol -- good show (and home-grown)

My current favourite (a few years old now) is Arrested Development. I don't think it gets much better than that: "there's always money in the banana stand!"

That was a funny premise, but I hate canned laughter. It's just not needed in some cases, like your show.

Well, I would put Faulty Towers at the top. A mix of Python and a full shot of Cleese. Live audience too.

    Faulty Towers Compilation

    Fawlty Towers - Germans

    Faulty Towers Bloopers

    Mr. Bean.

    The Library

There are others, I found one that I never heard of before called the Mighty Boosh. Very surreal humor like Python, but with a lot more contemporary musings.

The Mighty Boosh - I'll Put a Move on You

    Mighty Boosh Compilation

American? Taxi, Night Court, Seinfeld and...and...well, I don't watch TV that much anymore.

My Grandfather and I loved that show too (we used to watch togather).

My local channel stop carrying too. Its a Canadian based show, which I think is still showing new episodes.

You can buy this show on Amazon.com

    "The Party"

It is very funny, but a little racist - probably you don't want to watch it if you are sensitive to mild racism of the sort that was commonplace in 1968.

It isn't the racism that is funny in the movie - but it is there, so don't watch it if you can't take it for what it is. There is racism in everything that old, if you toss everything that has the taint of racism, you basically can only watch movies made after 1980.

Do you throw away your Koran because it includes racist laws as part of its teaching?

    http://www.gamla.org.il/english/arti...1/aug/win1.htm

Among these Islamic laws included: 1. If the father of boy under 13 was killed, he could be freely taken and raised as a Muslim. 2. Jews (and Christians) must never be higher than a Muslim, therefore, if passing a Muslim on the sidewalk, the Jew (and Christian) must pass on the left and must step into the street (usually the sewer); synagogues and churches had to be built lower than mosques; Jews (and Christians) could not ride a camel or horse, etc. 3. Jews (and Christians) could not testify in court against a Muslim - leading to countless human rights abuses, including a Muslim's right to kill a Jew (or Christian), to steal his property, assault him, etc. - with impunity; 4. Jews (and Christians) were forced to live in ghettos. 5. A Muslim had the right 'from time immemorial' to enter Jewish houses and take toll or 'contributions' at any time without giving account. 6. According to the British Consulate report in 1839, the Jew's life was not "much above" that of a dog. 7. A Jew had to wear a distinctive color on his clothing. 8. The Palestinian Mandate, designated as the Homeland for the Jews by the Balfour Declaration, ratified by the League of Nations and the American Congress was totally ignored as it was considered contrary to Islamic law and destiny. There were vicious pogroms by Muslim against Jews who were brutally attacked by Muslims...their homes sacked and their women violated. 8 Jew were not allowed to carry weapons of self-defense - even a knife - and, therefore, had to pay a poll tax - "jiza" to the governing Muslim authority for his protection. When he paid, his face was slapped to emphasize his lowly status. 9. There are, of course, many more racist laws of the Koran - all of which are intended to be re-implemented according to the Mullahs of Islam. (1)

Btw, did you know the leader of the Muslim armies in Spain was a Jew?

But we are veering off-topic and far from humorous comedy. I'll be happy to destroy your above points one by one but you'll have to start another thread to do it as it is just a tad inappropriate here.

Btw, the site you link to has itself been accused of racism (certainly it specialises in lies as your excerpt ably demonstrates) and in actuality is an extreme right-wing Israeli pro-Zionist site. We can also highlight its abuses and racism in the thread you start if you choose to do so - it is infamous for calling for the genocidal ethnic cleansing and extermination of Palestinians.

You should check your sources far more carefully. But then, perhaps you know all that and are a regular reader/supporter?

I just did a google search on "Koran racism" - it is a random site. My point is that you can't throw out the baby with the bathwater, as you were suggesting that we do.

"The Pink Panther" was also slightly racist, did you laugh at it? If so, are you evil? Did you enjoy Flash Gordon? Pirates of the Caribbean III?

I don't know where your shoulder chip came from - but I found "The Party" to be very funny, and I thought I was being responsible when giving the racism warning - kind of like a PG13 for racism.

I do not believe in a PC sort of racism - and the Pink Panther was not racist in my view. Racism to me can only stem from a place of hate and belief in the superiority of a race and as such is not funny.

Racial stereotypes are not racist imo, practically all Jewish comedy is based on them. Maybe I was assuming you were meaning racist in a sort of British BNP/Bernard Manning sort of way and so I guess I might possibly owe you an apology....

Peter Sellers plays a likable but clumsy Hindu fellow, and he has something on his skin to make him look Indian, but besides that it is not an overtly racist movie. I might get upset by it if I was Indian, but maybe not because it is a really funny movie. If it has a target, it is rich hollywood white people.

Anyway, sorry about trying to get your goat with the Koran thing.

"... badges?... we don't need no stinking badges!"

That being my favorite line was a bit of an inside joke, but the entire movie was highly amusing.

I'll leave it up to you to figure out the movie (and no ... not "Treasure of the Sierra Madre")

As for modern shows, I'd go with Futurama...

I usually respect people's personal taste in comedy, since it's so subjective... but "Red Green"!!! C'mon, man! That has to be one of worst shows ever! It's so dry, and repetitive.... aaaack! Oh, well...

Blazing Saddles! Not much racism in that one!

(yeah I know, that was the point)
