20" iMac ICD spits out install disk

I've got a friend who has a 20" iMac ICD, and we need to reboot it from the installer disk that it came with, in order to fix the hard disk.

The problem is, that when you insert the installer disk, and reboot the machine, and hold down the C key, the machine spits out the installer disk and boots from the hard disk.

I've never heard of a machine spitting out its own install disk. How can I force it to boot from the installer disk?

Try this: Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc, then go to System Preferences/Startup Disk, select Mac OS X Install Disc as the Startup Disk and then reboot. Maybe it will do the trick.
