Upgrading to Leopard
Hiya,
1st post and a newbie question; I?m fairly new to the Mac world, switched from PCs in Feb this yr and love it. I run OSX Tiger on a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz/ 2GB memory and plan to upgrade to Leopard as soon as it hits the shelves. The simple question is, during the upgrade process does the OSX carry all my files, programs and settings to Leopard or will it ask me for a clean installation (meaning having to back up the HDD to an external device and then re-importing it all after the installation)?

You have the option to clean install, archive and install (setting your existing user account/settings aside) or an upgrade and install. I have always used the upgrade and install option as soon as the new OS launches and I have never once had an issue as Apple makes this a very streamlined and simple process that doesn't require a lot of attention from the user, although they always suggest backing up anything important to you.
Some make it a habit to wait until Apple has officially released the first update to the OS before they install the new OS because of concerns over bugs/etc. Maybe they can share some experiences to help you decide when to upgrade (although I think most would agree that "upgrade and install" is how you should upgrade).
