Logitech Quickcam Ultra Vision SE mic

I use one of these with iChat AV and while running 10.3.9 it was working beautifully. After upgrading to 10.4.10 I have lost functionality in the mic. The video is perfect but there is no sound. A call to the Logitech support line told me that the system software upgrade made the camera UVC or UBC compliant? This resulted in less functionality in the camera. No Logitech software update planned. Does anyone here have any idea what this means and can I somehow fix it?

    Did you ever receive a reply to this question. I have the same Quick-cam and the picture is great, but no sound.

    Upgrading to Leopard fixed the problem.
