New powermacs at NAB? QTL?
Well, if macworld is now strictly a consumer show, then the new powermacs are going to have to debut at a pro show.
Enter the National Association of Broadcasters annual show in April in Las Vegas.
Apple bought Spruce technologies last year, which used to be the de-facto DVD authoring platform of choice for Windows. Now Apple owns it and all the hardware MPEG compression boards it used to sell with its software.
My guess is that Apple will have major announcements at NAB - focused squarely on hollywood and high-end graphics.
Could they release new powermacs at this show?
Or how about Quicktime Live! in one month? Where the focus will be all about video and high end graphics?

if apple lowers the prices on the pros quietly in the next week i'll reconsider but with the imac sporting specs following close behind the pro desktops i'd make me insecure to call myself a pro user

Or the ever infamous silent upgrade.

People please. Let's put A,B & C together.
A) When does the iMac start to ship? "$1799 model to ship by end of January"
C) Add A+B & get C. The new iMac won't ship till the end of January therefore the old iMacs are still competing against the current Power Macs. This means that Apple has until the end of the month to annouce the new Power Macs. Expect an annoucement on or before Feb 1.
