iTunes Library

I recently been looking over Jaman's new movie download service and it struck me that iTunes has a large blindspot when it comes to independent (truly indie, not Fox Searchlight, yadda yadda) and foreign films, TV shows, etc. iTunes seems to be making some headway with indie music (by allowing labels to deal directly with them), but this idea hasn't seemed to carry over. Why would Apple leave themselves wide-open to niche competition? It's not like digital content is taking up shelf space. Do you all think Apple will address this problem soon?

Also, how long do you think it'll take Apple to drop DRM (which wasn't their idea in the first place) now that Amazon MP3 is up?
