So, I've been waiting to switch my household PC for a Mac and I've been awaiting the release of Leopard to do so. However, due to unforeseen circumstances (repair is not worth it), I must buy a new desktop right now and I want to make it the iMac.

Does anyone know if there is a grace period for [free] upgrades to Leopard on recent purchases of a Mac with Tiger (i.e. within 15 or 30 days, etc)?? I'm banking on an October release.

If anyone has any definitive insight or knowledge/experience with similar situations, please let me know. Thanks.

The answer would be no..... But you do have 14 days to return a product so I guess you could always return it for a refund and then buy a new one with it. But this only works for 14 days from the date of purchase.

If you can swing the cost of the upgrade in the next month or two I would say just get the new iMac now. Tiger is a great version of OSX and very stable also. This may not be the case with Leopard when it gets released. Moving to Leopard from Tiger is no big deal at all.
