Can I use my Macbook as an external monitor for a desktop?

I have a headless desktop tower, but no monitor. I used to log into it using VNC, but something happened and I can't log into it anymore. Can I use my macbook as a display for that desktop?

    No. The way you were doing it (vnc) is as good as it gets, unless you have some sort of video in capability (which isn't standard for that model).
