iMac resolution question

In looking at the resolution specs for the new iMac's, I'm a little confused as to the benefit or lack thereof, of 1920 x 1200 pixels vs. 1680 x 1050. As I understand it, the 1080p high-def spec is listed at 1920 x 1080. Does this mean that high def movies can be watched in 1080p on the 24inch iMac but not the 20inch (at least not without some cropping)? Besides having more viewable real estate, are there other benefits I should be aware of for 1920 x 1200?

Thanks.

1920x1200 gives you a nice bit of extra real estate. It also lets you watch anything HD-related at the native resolution of 1920x1080.

The 20" model's 1680x1050 screen lets you watch 1080p content scaled down a bit. The detail is still significantly better than you would get with 720p, so it's no big loss on that score. That's the only real difference.
