Opening torrents with transmission

my default application for files with a .torrent extension is opera. i would delete opera but i cant even find it. so how can i make transmission the default app?

    Do a get info (command-i) on a torrent file and go to the open with, choose transmission in the menu and click change all.

    To clear Opera from your application cache, download OnyX and go to Cleaning>Caches and check Applications Caches. I had a few versions of Opera still left in the Open With... menus that were driving me insane and that fixed it.

    It's worth noting that several Adobe apps have Opera lurking inside them. It's what they use to render the HTML help system they have.
