Booting Leopard from External Drive

So i successfully installed Leopard on my mac mini, but am having trouble on my macbook.



A while back, my laptop suffered a fall onto the hard tile floor, busting the optical drive, so i just bought an external drive just today to use. It works fine, but i'm having trouble booting from it, it just pulls up a white screen without an apple sign or anything. Do you have any solutions?

    nevermind. it took just one more try to get it going, and i'm using it now.



    it's pretty awesome, i'm sure alot of people will agree.
