iPod Touch question
Hey, I currently have a 5G 30GB white iPod Classic, but want to replace it with an iPod Touch. I've read some reviews, but they all seem to say the same thing (basically that it's great, another wonderful iPod model, etc).
I was wondering, for those that already have the Touch, tell me exactly what you think of it while I'm considering buying one?

However, there are some serious omissions. The reason I got one anyway is that I believe it will get better in the future, much more so than previous iPods: We already know it can get functionality via the web, and I expect that will significantly expand over time. More importantly, we know there will be native apps in several months. I'm expecting google maps, better email, games, better calendar, etc. etc.
The only other thing I'm hoping for is that they'll get the radio remote to work with it. Not sure about that one, but I'm hoping.
Some of the things I can think of that you may need to consider is storage capacity, and perhaps additional functionality like games or Notes, if you're used to those. In regards to storage, well, it is what it is. The software stuff could be upgraded in later patches, I guess, so may not be too much of an issue. I can't say.
Anyway, my experience w/ mine has been a delight. The touch screen UI is awesomeness in itself. I do have to be looking at it in order to toggle volume control or skip songs but IMO, it wasn't as un-nerving as I had anticipated (YMMV of course). Form factor is way smaller than my old iPod but it has a nice solid feel to it - not too delicate, if you know what I mean. Except for the chrome back plate, it will still scratch fairly easily but there are affordable products out there that'll provide some form of protection.
I haven't been disappointed with the video functionality at all. Wi-Fi works when you're in range of an assessible hot spot. I've gone on a bit much so to sum up, I think that all in all, the Touch works pretty much as advertised. Get it if you can afford it, just be aware that compared to the previous models or the "Classic", not all the feature sets crossed over to the Touch. HTH.
Thanks for replying, guys. I'm gonna buy one next time I'm in the city.
You are lucky dog, man. I have used one soft called iPod Video Converter for Mac which I found in download.com, here is the link http://www.download.com/iPod-Video-C...5.html?tag=pub . It said, Version 3.2.36.0921 adds iPod Touch relative profile, iPod touch MPEG-4 (*.MP4), iPod touch MPEG-4 480P (*.MP4). Additionally, its popular software in CNET!
will a ipod mini 1g connector work with the new models of ipod? because i have a firewire connector, and i wouldn't want to give it up for a USB one.
i'm seriously looking into a ipod touch, because i don't have much music in the first place, and the wi-fi is really appealing to me.

Gear4 have updated their details on the Blueye bluetooth and FM radio remote, it now works with the nano 3g, classic and touch. Only downer is that there's no screen functions for it on the touch so you're flying blind with it.
