I'm wondering how hard it is and what is involved in taking a windows app and porting it to the mac. I'm sure someone here knows and can give me a general idea.

The answer could fill an entire book.

You need to describe the Windows app. Which language was it written in? What libraries does it use? How large is the app? Does is rely on any Windows only technologies?

The question is too vague, give us some more info.

Yeah I know I didn't give much info. Sorry.

The program(windows lingo) is a practice management software package with a rudimentary electronic medical record. It's for dentists. It's based on SQL. I don't know what libraries are associated with it. Not sure how large it is. How can I find out? The database of files is kept on a file server with associated work stations.

Unfortunately that's all I know about it.

If it's based on SQL it should be straightforward.

For the backend, sure. But its the UI that's the kicker.

The UI is total shit. That's the main problem.
