I've got a Macbook bought a around 10 days ago; its all good in the end, it has 2 gigs memory, the cpu has only been bumped by 40Mhz (I've got a 2.16Ghz black Macbook), and none of the applications are hugely bandwidth bound. Given how fast the 2.16Ghz is, anything not supported by the GPU is done in software, and given how fast the cpu is, one would be hard pressed to notice significant performance loss.
