iTunes downgrade?

I recently upgraded to the latest version of iTunes, but when I tried opening it, it told me I needed Leopard to run it (right now I have 10.4.6). I went to OldApps, and downloaded an older version of iTunes (7.0.1) that I had before, but when I tried installing it, it told me there was nothing to install! I am rather scared of somehow losing my enormous music collection by uninstalling the brand new iTunes, and then trying to install iTunes 7.0.1. Do you have any advice on how to restore the old version of iTunes? I've seen stuff about downgrading, but I don't know if downgrading kills the music collection.

You need to update to at least 10.4.7 to run the latest iTunes, so you don't need leopard.
