external HD recognition problem.

...I've got an 80gig Hitachi ATA/IDE 4200RMP 2.5 inch Hard drive from an older Mac laptop and I want to connect it to my shiny new Mac Book Pro for TIme Machine. The enclosure I bought is from BAFO whom seem credible enough. But when I hook it up nothing happens. The HD starts up and spins just fine but thats it. Leopard just doesn't see it. and DIsk utility doesn't either. Any ideas?

    quick follow up on this.

    System profiler does see it, and give this information.
