OS X & Backing Up
I'm curious if anyone has good backup scheme under Mac OS X... I'd like to use Retrospect out to my tape drive, but the option doesn't yet exist.
Mac OS X can't really be considered a full fledge operating system without reliable and easy backup support (although OSX wonderful in every other respect).
Anyone able to get tar working over firewire to a tape drive (of any type)? Anyone had any luck with any other *nix tools (rsync, cpio?). I use rsync to back up a RedHat server to my Mac, but don't want to go the other direction.
Anyone use any good OS X utilities which will work with a tape drive?
Everyday that goes by under OS X without a back up makes me more and more nervous.
Thanks!

But while waiting for Apple to provide the API hooks Retrospect had been asking for, try this site for another way.

At least it's an alternative.
I use Tri-Backup. It works great and now it makes bootable disks.

Hey, great tip, didn't know that one! Thx.
$30 last time I looked.
