Stuck in Safe Boot mode

For some reason my Mac is starting up in "safe boot" mode, without me holding down any keys, and I can't get it to start normally. I ran Disk Utility and it says everything is normal. I can't find any reference to this problem online, so any help would be appreciated. I'm running Mac OS 10.4.11 on a 1 GHz PowerPC G4 eMac with 512 mb SDRAM. Thanks!

Weird. Try resetting the nvram. Start up your mac while holding down the command-option-O-F keys. Then type "reset-nvram" then "resell-all". Hope that helps.

sounds to me like a bad kernel extension. Where's the boot error log stored again? in /var/log/?
