Is this true (from the register)

And it's making OS X the default operating system across all new models. OS X also becomes a free download from the Apple website.

If this is the truth it's Apples final kick in the teeth for all of us who went out and paid for the beta, then for the final, then paid again for the upgrade.
Thanks Apple.

The Time article clearly states that the garden is where Jobs and Ives discussed the new iMac and where Jobs first sketched it two years ago. It also clearly states that Quittner was behind "frosted spy proof glass" on the Apple campus.
Someone should let them know their reporter has poor reading comprehension skills.

Keep in mind that those who bought the beta did get their money back through a discount on the final version. If you didn't use that discount then it's your loss and don't b!tch to us about it. Also keep in mind that for the money spent on the 10.1 update you got three CDs and documentation.(You could also get the 10.1 update for free if you got off your ass and went to the nearest Apple dealer.) I'm pretty sure that if you can download 10.1 then Apple's not going to be giving you any tech support on how to burn it. If you blindly forked over your cash to Apple then got pissed over it that's your fault. Don't expect any pity or respect from us for it. Now quit trying to drag out an old topic, it's already been debated into 6 feet under the ground.
I did not hear Steve mention anything like it.
Not even Mac OS 8 is a free download.
Huh?
