They'll watermark stuff so you can't sell what you do, but this looks sweet. I have no interest in being an animator, but demos of this app look so cool, I just want to play with it!

Great. I've wanted to just play around with it since it came out.

This is an absolute brilliant move on Alias' part as it will offer those that are in the graphic arts realm the opportunity to learn this tool without investing anything other than their own time!

I'm not a graphics artist, but I can appreciate a smart business move when I see it...

No, but it saves to a non-commercial format.

As FIAT posted in another thread:

The Macnn article linked there when it was up.

This is a pretty cool thing for AW to do, just don't expect to create a whole lot if you are "just tinkering", because you will get frustrated pretty quickly. Maya has one hell of a learning curve, and unless you're quite serious about learning it, all the head scratching will get old fast.

It will be interesting to see what new talent this brings out, as well as who is going to play with the free version a while and say "the macworld demo's make it look so easy".

    Two things are for certain:

If you're serious about 3d and have a decent background, you're going to love it.

Your machine will seem slow and you will understand why apple needs the G5.

I plan to render a full-length motion picture (similar to Final Fantasy, but with much more nudity) on my iBook, using Maya, in real time.

Cool, I'm glad I caught this thread. I didn't notice it a week ago when this news was first released.

Just be sure to make it public on your iDisk

I think we need a new nudity specific Graemlin .
