Battery Issues

So I have a problem with my MBP battery.

279 cycles

74% health.

But the computer shuts down completely after 10-15 minutes. No warning that it's using reserve power either-- just shuts down.

What the heck is up with that?

Take it to an Apple Genius or Apple Specialist. If you've got a warranty or AppleCare, that should be covered. Usually, batteries are considered "consumables" and are not covered beyond one year (even with AppleCare), but in an instance where the battery is not just showing diminished life, but actually malfunctioning, it should still get covered.

If you've got no warranty, just buy a new battery. Non-warranty replacement of the battery is pretty much pointless, it costs about the same and you get a refurbished battery.

    I'll talk to AppleCare.
