Setting hidden folders?

Hey,
I was wondering if OS X makes it possible to set a folder to be hidden by default.
I can't seem to find this option (it was very simple on Windows...)

Try a program like
this
. This one is freeware, and it looks to be what you are looking for, but if not, try a google search...
