Vista Shuts Down MacBook Pro

Under Boot Camp, for no apparent reason I can fathom, Vista completely shuts down my MacBook Pro. I've done all of the upgrades, and "poof", about ten minutes into a session, the computer simply shuts down.

No sleep or restart or anything like that...just shuts off.

Seemed to start after installing Office 2000, but not sure as Leopard was installed about the same time on the Mac partition.

Using an Apple Bluetooth mouse (the new one), but nothing else out of the ordinary.

Computer will run Leopard for weeks without a glitch.

Any clues? I need to run Microsoft Front Page and Publisher under Vista, and they run until the aforementioned "poof".

Any clues?

I was hoping that someone would reply to you. I just got my MacBook Pro today and am planning to install Windows Vista Utlimate as soon as it arrives. I have worked with Windows ever since it came out and one thing I have learned is that the Windows OS loves memory and disk space. So I was wondering how much memory you have and how much disk space you have allocated to the Windows partition? Have you successfully applied all of the Windows Vista, Front Page and Publisher updates? Do you have anti-virus software installed with a firewall like Macafee Security Center?

I going to give the Windows partition 100 gb and I have 4gb of memory. If I run into problems, I'm going to get Fusion in hopes that it will work properly.

I wish I could be of more help to you.

I gave Windows 40G of disk space and I have 2G of memory.

I checked space within Vista Business, and it isn't even half full. All Vista, Office, and AVG virus updates are up to date.

I think I'll go back to XP.

Thanks for getting back to me.

It's fixed. Apparently one of Vista's or Office's updates corrupted something. Vista and Office are the only programs in the Boot Camp partition. Yesterday I put in the Leopard DVD after booting into Vista, chose "Repair", and left it running for many hours after a reboot with no problems.

Thanks for the help. I only spend a few minutes a day in Vista, but it's good to know that it won't crash unexpectedly now.

By the way, unless they changed it with Leopard (I don't think they did), you can have as much ram as you want and Windows will only recognize 2GB.
