I didn't know whether this belonged here or in General Discussion since I am talking about a computer running on Windows XP, but it also concerns iTunes and my iPod Touch.

I want to rip some DVDs to my computer and convert them to MP4 so that I can put them on my iPod, but I don't really want to download anything unless I know for certain that it's safe and reliable.

Is there anything anyone can recommend me to both rip and convert?

You put it in the right section. I would say that you can look on google and you'll find a variety of options. I think all of them will be safe and should be reliable.

You can try one of these: http://www.share2.com/download/dvd-ripper.htm

But if you'd really feel safe for a specific recommendation you'll have to just wait I guess. On my Mac I use handbrake, works like a charm.

I use two free programs to do this. Fairuse Wizard Light Edition to rip a DVD to DivX and XviD files (I also use the ripped movie files on my Palm TX & PSP), & MediaCoder to convert my movie to the required format. I also use the following website, Online FLV Converter to convert YouTube videos to IPod & PSP movie files: http://vixy.net/

    I hope this info helps.
