Disk image opens automatically
Hi there.
Been using Mac for little more than four months now, and I just can't seem to find an answer to this problem. Though it might be obvious to long time Mac users, though.
Following the recommendations I have found on many Mac forums on how to keep your private files private, I have stored them in an encrypted file image. I have set a secure password and kept the DMG file in an unsuspected location in my computer.
The problem is, every time I open SKYPE (which, of course, is stored in a completely different location), my computer automatically tries to open that disk image and prompts me to type my password. Even though the password is known only to me, I find it a bit upsetting that the very existence of a password-protected disk image is revealed every time someone tries to open Skype.
The same thing happens when I try to save a file from any website through Firefox. I have checked the Firefox options and it is not set to save files in that disk image, so I have no clue to why it is behaving like that.
Could anybody please help me on that one? How do I disassociate both Skype and Firefox from my encrypted disk image?
Cheers,
FHeller

The Firefox issue could be that you saved a web page directly onto the image. When you save another page, it will try to open the last location by default - it doesn't open the folder set as your download directory.
All you should have to do is save a page somewhere else, say on your desktop and that's what it will open when you save future pages.
As for Skype, I don't use it much so I'm not sure why it wants to mount the image but check if there are any resources like image files or preference files it uses that might be on the image.
