replacement HD 2.3 MacBook Pro

Hi folks. Is there a place to check out the replacement drives available to put in a new MacBook Pro 17" with 2.3 and a 150 GB drive currently in it?

I see where the newer 2.4 can have a 250, is this the same drive?

I'm thinking of replacing it, or carrying around a external drive?

If your computer is still under warranty, you will void the warranty replacing its hard drive. Another consideration is the 24 screws you need to remove to even get at the hard drive. A real PITA if you ask me. External is the best way to go if your MBP's internal hard drive is OK... are leary of dissecting your computer... but simply need more storage space.

    Check out http://www.ifixit.com/Apple-Parts/25...rive/IF107-047

The link to the instructions is on that page. They don't specifically say the 2.4 gHz, but I think all 17 inch MBPs are the same.

You can use the 250 if you go for the 5400rpm. The 7200 rpm only goes to 200GB. Here is OWC's upgrade page for your machine.

I agree with lundy about using ifixit. Great instructions and tool list. You don't want to start without the proper tools.
