I cannot install Leopard, after selecting english as preferred language, a notice stating that Leopard Cannot Be Installed On This Computer appears, and the menu window for other installation options doesn't open.

I have a 800MHz PowerPC G4, with 896 MB SDRAM, am using Tiger OS X 10.4.11, and have made 11.7 GB available.

What is the problem ??

An 867 MHz G4 is the minimum specification for MacOS X 10.5.

Do you have a PowerMac G4? I'm assuming so, due to your irregular amount of RAM. The only way to increase the processor speed of your machine is to install an aftermarket upgrade.

They're not cheap though. About $250 for a 1.4 GHz, $500 for a dual 1.8. You're likely better off getting a Mac mini, at that point.

Here's a thread that explains how to hack the installer package to make it NOT check for 867 mHz before installing.

Eh, there's that too, but personally, I think the 867MHz barrier is there for a reason. I wouldn't be too happy with the performance of any sub-867 machine with Leopard anyway.

So do I, but it appears that the OP has purchased it and opened it, and can't return it. In that case, the only free method to load it and test it is to hack the installer package.
