I think my pointer has issues...

Ok, I have had my iBook for about a month but I've begun to think that my pointer or cursor has "issues".

Every now and again my pointer will just freak out (perhaps I am stressing the little fella a little too much?!) and zip down to the bottom left hand corner of my screen, cowering and attempting to hide in fear! Why does the mouse cursor do that?!

Is it just me or have others been plagued by this neurosis as well?

This was happening when I got my first notebook, and it turned out I was touching the trackpad with one of my other fingers or thumb. It's actually pretty easy to do and not realize it (for a clutz like me, anyway.)

I wish it was this, but I use a USB mouse all the time. And this mouse has, count'em, 2 optical sensors built into it... So I'm thinking it probably isn't the mouse.

What I find strange is that the mouse pointer always seems to shoot down to the bottom left hand corner. What's up with that?

Maybe it's the surface on which you're using the mouse. Do you use it over anything shiny?

I'm using it on one of those 3M Precise Mousing Surface mouse pads, you know the really thin ones? It claims to be an excellent mousing surface, apparently.

I guess what I am getting at is that if the mouse always seems to jump to a particular point on the screen (the very bottom, left corner) every time, it leads one to think that there is something funny with the OS. No?

I was hoping that maybe there were others out there that seemed to have this problem as well. Anyone? Or perhaps my pointer really does have issues...
