I know there has already beenm discussion about smartmedia readers under X, as soon as someone get's 'em to work, let mer know.

I am actually asking about scanners though, I have a Mustek 1200 UB If anyone knows how I can get it to work, please let me know. The plugin for it doesn't work through GraphicConverter for X and when I try to use PhotoShop 6 or an older version of GC through classic, the application "unexpectedly quits." Please help if you can, thanx.

    Scanner drivers are the last major thing lacking from OS X (at least for me) and I can't understand why that is. I've sent feedback to Apple under OS X and iPhoto asking for better scanning support . I hope it comes. But I'm not holding my breath for uMax to help.

    Try VueScan as it is supporting a range of scanners. Check the developers supported device list, I know it doesn't support my scanner, but maybe yours.

    I am left with my Canon scanner in the arms of Mac OS 9.2.2 .

    OS X is shipping default on Apple's machines;

    Canon scanners are the ones sold in the Apple Store;

    No Canon drivers exist for OS X.

    Supposedly the OS X drivers for Cannon scanners are being released in February but I cannot find confirmation of this rumor.

    This is just a guess...but I think everyone is waiting on Adobe to get Photoshop out the door.

    I mean, my Cannon scanner's driver is a "plug-in," and likely scanner manufacturers want to see how Adobe's Carbon plug-in APIs work before rushing drivers out their doors. Sort of like Palm conduits support as well.
