Migrating Parents to OS X

My Ma bought a new iMac 400 DV in the spring and I have finally moved her over to OS X. I have ancient clone w/ upgrade card so I have not been using X; so it was a bit of an adventure for me. We had ordered 10 and 10.1 through up to date program and dowloaded 10.1.2 etc

I am really impressed! An easy transition and a joy to use. She like to run at 800x600 so Dad can see his solitaire game and it very useable at that scale (if you scale down the dock). I found teh system very responsive (320MB Ram) even with classic running and tons of apps running.

Only problem encountered was the spinning cursor for minutes at a time when in iTunes and clicking something that made it try to connect to internet when it was not already (like radio tuner).

No this is a little on the consumer side for most of you but as an everyday operating system for a retired couple aged 71 and 66 X is great; so far. I will likely bite bullet this spring and retire Umax C500 threshing machine and move to G4 and X.

I had a Umax S900 w/ 64mb of RAM!! and upgraded to a TiBook 667 w/ 512mb of ram, a lot nicer. Gave the Umax to my parents, upgraded the ram to 526mb or something, made them use multiple users so if they do go to mac os x the signing in thing will not be so out of left field, plus there email and docs are all in there own places. They had a 6100/66 that was also my computer, the parents get the hand me downs. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
