I'm sorry but anything but a live video stream of the event would suck.....badly. I just sent a message to asking them to please confirm that they will indeed provide a live feed.
^ +1 They're actually pretty good, the "play-by-play" gives you a great feeling of the keynote.
One thing about websites like Engadget and Gizmodo is that their live coverage often completely misses the tone and importance of announcements as they come out, and they often add lame opinions. I followed them at last keynote and when I saw the video later, I got a completely different impression of the new iMac and iLife.
I'm a big fan of the live text updates (usually with some pics thrown in). I have to appearto be working if I want to have a chance of actually buying anything announced, and so that my family will have a home to live in.
The odds of a live keynote stream are pretty small. If you could calculate those odds, get a really hot cup of tea and had an infinite improbability generator lying around you might have some luck though...
This is the response I got from world of apple this afternoon concerning their live stream efforts:

Hi Olternaut,
World of Apple is very thankful for the work you've been doing to help advertise this service. But it was known along the way that this was no means guaranteed.
Unfortunately at this stage it looks unlikely that World of Apple will be offering a live stream of the Macworld 2008 keynote, this is due to legal issues. Although negotiations are ongoing, Apple is keen to stop this from happening and has made references to future legal action if World of Apple was to go ahead.
Last year we planned to offer a live audio stream of the keynote but technical problems forced us to back down at the last minute, this year everything is in place and we have worked closely with a company called BitGravity (www.bitgravity.com) to guarantee a smooth, high quality video feed. But no matter how hard you plan Apple legal is always on the scene to ruin things.
We'll be announcing on the site whether we're going ahead in the next few days, so keep an eye out for that.
Concerning users who have registered interest, World of Apple has and had no interest in harvesting email addresses for future marketing purposes and has disposed of all the emails received.
Once again on behalf of the team at World of Apple I thank you for your ongoing efforts to advertise World of Apple Live and apologise ahead of time to the thousands of users who registered their interest if we're unable to receive the correct permissions.
Kindest regards,

P.s. Some other sites are claiming to be offering streams via services such as Mogulus and Justin.tv, check out www.dailytechtalk.com/live.php
Are you going to stab me while I'm down and say "I told you so"?? Please don't. I will take what the senior editor said as the truth till proven otherwise. *sigh* I will check out mogulus and justin.tv and such on the off.....off.....OFFF chance they might be doing some sort of live stream. I won't hold my breath.
"According to Macworld.co.uk, Apple has invited members of the European media to watch a special broadcast of Steve Jobs' Macworld San Francisco keynote speech.
"Please join us on 15 January at 5pm for a special live satellite broadcast of Steve Jobs' keynote address from Macworld San Francisco," the company says in a message to the media."
Apple has posted satellite linkup information in the past and I have watched the keynote through my satellite dish. It's just a matter of getting the satellite linkup info.

Any takers?
At first I was going to say "OMG TELL ME HOW MAN!". But I just realized I still need it to be an internet broadcast because I will be at work at the time.
Comments
(This board doesn't accept the answer "No", unless I add something superfluous, like this)
Its a scam.
You mean? They had better not be running a scam. For their sake!
Websites like engadget do like text updates with pictures and stuff.
I've been busy over the holidays

I think Mac Rumors usually does a live text update during the keynote, that is usually pretty decent.
*quietly vomits*
