What if...new keyboard concept...

What if on the ultra portable, apple nixed the track pad all together and made the keys on the keyboard the "trackpad". No key spaces like the MBP, but flatter keys like the MB. This would shrink the size of the keyboard and all you to basically use it as a flat surface...

That's available now: System preferences/Universal Access/Mouse/Mouse Keys; however, it is on the numeric keypad. I would imagine that it could be moved to other keys somehow.

No- I'm saying the tops of the keys were touch sensitive...so you could just move your finger across the keys to move the mouse and then continue typing...

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. People will easily press down keys accidentally trying to move their fingers across the keys. Remember that laptop keys are much more easily pressed. And it's not fun to slide your finger across bumps. Probably bad for the keys too.

That's a lot like the combined soft button/Touch Control system (Smart Touch) on Samsung's NV digtal cameras.
