Those are codenames of future Radeon graphics cards, not motherboard chipsets.
SB700 is a Southbridge chipset.
Now will Apple deliver a low power Mac with AMD chips? That is a good question and frankly can only see possibly one or two platforms right now where it might be viable. Worst yet one of those platforms is mythical.

Yes, it is. But the linked article does not mention SB700. The link mentions RV700 and RS780, which are graphics chips. All right, RS780 is an IGP, but that still doesn't mean anything.

Perhaps I missed it, but where does that article mention a headless Mac? That's an awfully big assumption for you to make based on code references to graphics cards.

Don't read too much into that. Apple had X86 builds of OS 10 since it was a pre-beta, system still mostly comprised of the NeXt OS, and have been maintaining them forever. They still have internal IBM, and AMD builds just in case. Any AMD or PPC specific calls are there so they can transition to any processor architecture if they have to in the future. It's not a hint. It's precaution. Intel is treating Apple waaay too good for them to even consider releasing an AMD anything. Plus they have a 5 year exclusive alliance with intel anyway. But I don't see Apple doing anything with AMD anyway. They are way behind intel, and intel keeps broadening their lead. Just like Nvidia does over ATI.
AMD and intel are x86 and intel is useing amd 64 code.
Where did you read that?

It's common knowledge. AMD was first with a 64-bit x86 processor. Microsoft wanted to release a 64-bit version of XP, so they based it on the AMD64 instruction set. Intel was then forced to copy it (renamed EM64T) to have a compatible CPU.

I guess he doesn't run Linux.
